Rod Man is an entry level field survey helper position. Generally candidates are expected to have 0-2 years of experience with no specific prerequisites.
A Rod Man is responsible for the application of appropriate field procedures and performs survey tasks as per the direction of the Party Chief and/or Instrument Man. He/she will gather supplies, dig for corners, cut line, clear obstacles for line of sight, search for monuments, correctly identify monuments, plumb prisms for accurate measurements, measure by chain/tape or other conventional methods, and perform other related tasks associated with field surveying. They are expected to load equipment and materials from office to truck, clean the equipment and secure all material/equipment in truck cab to prevent theft. This is a labor intensive position.
